What Will it Take?
"Baby lived 3 hours after abortion." Thats the headline of the April 20, 1999 Cincinnati Post. This was one of those partial birth abortions, a three-day process in which a baby is partially birthed before being killed. After the first part of the process in Dayton, Ohio, the next day the mother gave birth in a Cincinnati emergency room. "Baby Hope," as she was named, lived about 3 hours as an ER technician rocked and sang to her. She was a "22-week-old fetus." If this doesnt attack our moral sensibilities, there is something seriously wrong. If this does not prove to abortion advocates that this is human life that they are taking, I dont know what it will take. Even with this baby living after birth, advocates still argue that such procedures should not be restricted. President Clinton has twice vetoed legislation that would prohibit at least this much. Thanks for the moral leadership, Mr. President. Now get this. Morris Hudgins, a "minister" of "Northern Hills Fellowship" in Springfield, Ohio, commented: "Taking a babys life is not the best choice, but it should be a choice when theres a threat to the mothers health." He moved from "the mothers health" to justifying what happened here. And did you catch it? "Taking a babys life " This is a tacit admission that abortion kills babies. Theres not an abortion advocate alive who could argue honestly that Baby Hope was not a real, live, human baby. And what makes this such a bad reflection on the condition of the U.S. is that no laws were broken. What an unconscionable fact! The emergency room staff members have since spent hours in counseling to "get over the emotional trauma of the incident." Said the RN who held Baby Hope: "This emotional trauma inflicted on our department is deeper and will last longer than the physical frailties that we deal with on a daily basis." Ask those nurses in the ER. Think of any of them would argue that Baby Hope was just a mass of tissue? Do you think they just threw her in a bucket out back after it was over? We now live in a society that has so denigrated human life that abortion is nothing anymore. Parents have sacrificed their unborn so they can wallow in their own sin. People defend the Kevorkians of the world, who would gladly take the lives of the sick and elderly. Teenagers can make bombs, get hold of mass fire arms, and laugh while massacring fellow students. What will it take to wake us up and turn us back to God? I dont think its a coincidence that such incidents are on the rise. This country has long ago kicked God out of society and government in favor of evolutionism, pluralism, and a perverted view of tolerance. Violence is glorified in movies and music. Homes have broken apart like cheap plates falling to cement. Anyone who stands up to fight against immorality and evil is considered to be an ignorant bigot. And we wonder what has happened to this world. Take God out of the picture, friends, and this is the world we live in (Romans 1; 2 Tim. 3:1-5). Isnt it grand? Dont expect it to get better until people wake up and return to Biblical principles of respect for God and others. Dont expect kids to gain this respect until parents take their God-given responsibilities and train them like they are called on to do. Children need to see their parents standing up for whats right. And its time that we quit being such cowards about speaking out. Have we become so intimidated by the ungodly world around us that we can no longer speak up for the Lord? Should we care that much about what others think that we just silently sit by while ungodliness spreads like deadly cancer throughout the land? Have we bought into the lies about how religious people shouldnt push their views and morality on others? This is life and death we are talking about. Its ultimately about heaven and hell. May God have mercy on us all. Doy Moyer |
